Chtistmas greetings from Aspen, Sweden!

Hi all our friends in Europe!
Here is a Christmas movie from all of us to all of you.
One day this week we had a world champion sprint kayaker in K1 200 meter coaching us at our gym class. We did one of Petters sessions that he does during his winter training and we want to share this experience with you. We all got really tired and will probably feel this training next day.

We wish you all a merry christmas and a happy new sports year!

TRIAL

Hello

Here's a video from Norway. Two of our students have recently begun new organized activities in their spare time. They are participants in a club that operates with the motorsport trial.
Trial is a motorcycle sport that involves driving in difficult terrain without putting your feet on the ground. The run takes place standing on the motorcycle at slow speed. The tracks that are being made in the field, and they are called "sections". The sections can be stone, tree trunks, roots or other making it difficult to do.

Visit to Osnabruck - what we liked best

We liked all activities and sports, but we liked best the rope activities in the nature. At school, we go to an artificial climbing wall, but climbing on trees and such was much better and more challenging. We alsio liked being with new friends, especially Pawel from Poland.

Project meeting in Osnabrück, Germany

From the 7th-12th of June students and colleagues from our partnerschools were invited to visit Schule an der Rolandsmauer in Osnabrück, Germany. In total 50 students and colleagues from all six schools met in the Youth hostel Schölerberg and had an extensive program of sporting activities the next four days. We practised rafting on the river Hase, geo-caching in the woods, rope climbing and archery in Kalkriese, swimming at Nettebad and water-skiing at Alfsee. The group mixed and got in contact very well. On Monday our guests were welcomed and guided multilingual at our school, in the afternoon we visited the city and had an official meeting with the Mayor Frau Jabs-Kiesler in the town hall of Osnabrück. In the so called "Friedenssaal" some students at their last days of school-life got their certificates, presents and were appointed to peace ambassadors in Europe.
The newspaper NOZ reported about the Comenius-project, please have a look at http://www.noz.de/lokales/73285298/niedersachsen-spaetstarter-bei-der-inklusion.

The next project meeting will take part in September at Bordeaux in France, we are very looking forward to meet our friends again! ¬

Schule an der Rolandsmauer practised new sports

This summer the students of the Europe-Club at Schule an der Rolandsmauer tried to make new experiences in different sporting activities. First we made a tour on bicycles to the Rubbenbruchsee in Osnabrück, then we played mini-golf.

A few weeks later we took some lessons on horseback with care of the horses before and after riding. We were able to hold well on the horses and could already train a little race. This was a lot of fun and we lost some fear of horses.

Boccia in our school

Today we wanted to show you how we play boccia in our school.

Boccia is a paraolympic sport. It is about concentration and strategy. Some of our students play in a boccia league by standard rules and are quite good at it - in this link, you can see also how a boccia event looks like. This is Nikol, our best player (last picture, red Tshirt)

But at school, we simplify rules a bit, because we have not enough space and we need easy counting of results so that everyone can participate. We play this way:

Sweden have been trying
sport orienteer a lot this spring. It´s fun to discover the feeling of understanding the map when you are suching for the right place in a big forest. It´s easy to get lost in the forest if you
don´t have focus on the map, trust us, we know!

First we had to learn about all map symbol. It was quite hard to learn all of them.

Then we went out trying to find the right places. Tricky but fun!

We have also tried canoeing in kayak and canoe!

. It was really fun but some tricky to stay in the canoe, not fall in to the water. Even the teachers tried with different success!

Felicia, Linus, Yunus, Moa and Jonathan is ready to travel to Germany, see you all soon!

Ice hockey in Ostrava

A local hockey club Vítkovice and the EVRAZ foundation joined to fund, equip and train a team of  boys with special needs or from disadvantaged background. The aim was to allow them to try out an attractive sport (the tradition of ice hockey is very strong in Ostrava), pursue a meaningful passtime and develop their soft skills by following an exacting schedule of training and respecting authority and experience a very compelling and rewarding sense of team play and sport success.

Several of our boys joined the team.

Dominik (16):
"The training starts at half past two and ends at half past four every Monday and Wednesday. When we arrive to the CEZ aren, we wait for our coach and we follow him to the locker room. We change there into the hockey gear a  then we go to the bench and wait until our coach lets us embark on ice surface. Half of us has red jerseys and the other half has blue jerseys. First we skate then we do different exercises  - skating back, doing various turns and keeping discs around cones and even oversteps, At the end of training, we play hockey against each other either in full or half the ice ring."
